Ledger Systems vs STORIS: which fits your store?

STORIS is a long-established ERP for home furnishings retailers. Ledger Systems is a newer, lighter system for the sale, the signed paperwork, the delivery and the profit. They overlap, but they are built for different stores. This page says where each one fits, using what STORIS says about itself on its own website.

What Ledger Systems is

A web-based store management system for furniture and mattress stores: sales and receipts, e-signed paperwork, deliveries with photo proof, a catalog with costs, reports with real profit, and a franchise console. It does not do accounting, buying or warehouse inventory control.

What STORIS is

An ERP for retailers of big-ticket home products, with point of sale, inventory across showrooms and distribution centers, accounting, buying, delivery logistics, financing and business intelligence. Its website says it has served furniture and home furnishings retailers for decades. STORIS is a trademark of its owner; Ledger Systems is not affiliated with it.

Choose Ledger Systems if

You want to run the sale, the signed paperwork, the delivery and the profit from one simple screen without an ERP rollout, you keep your accounting where it is, and you want to know the price before you talk to anyone.

Choose STORIS if

You run a larger, multi-warehouse retailer that needs integrated accounting, buying, inventory control and ERP-level reporting in one system, and you are ready for a full implementation.

Questions

Can Ledger Systems replace STORIS?

For a store that mainly needs sales, paperwork, deliveries and profit reports, yes. For a retailer that relies on STORIS for inventory control, buying and accounting, no: Ledger Systems does not do those.

Is this comparison fair?

It only states things STORIS publishes about itself, and what Ledger Systems does and does not do. If something here is out of date, write to [email protected].

How much does Ledger Systems cost?

$99/month per store, with the first month free. No setup fee, no per-user charge and no contract. A card is needed at signup but nothing is charged for 30 days, and you can cancel before the trial ends. Multi-location groups and franchises get a discount on every store.

Do I need special hardware?

No. Ledger Systems runs in a web browser on the phone, tablet or computer you already have, with nothing to install. Receipts print from any printer your device can print to.

Does it take card payments?

Ledger records how a customer paid (cash, card, finance or a split) and what is still owed. It isn’t a card processor, so you keep using the card terminal you already have and there are no payment-processing fees from us.

Is it cloud based, and can I use it any time?

Yes. Ledger Systems is cloud based, so it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any device with a browser. Your sales, catalog and deliveries are stored online and stay in sync on every device that is signed in: the counter computer, the owner's phone and the driver's phone all show the same store.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Sales, catalog and orders can be exported from Settings at any time, so your records are never locked in.
